【学术讲座】 Happy Easter
Xin, it is Good Friday here, and we are looking forward to Easter. I wish you a blessed Easter this year.
I have made pdf copies of some readings from Kierkegaard that could supplement the readings from my book for students in the seminar. I am attaching them to this message.
The Either/Or I selection goes with the first session. The second Either/Or selection and the first Postscript session go with the second session. The second Postscript selection and the Crumbs selection go with the third seminar. “Philosophical Crumbs” is usually translated as “Philosophical Fragments.”
All the best,
Stephen

The seminar will largely incorporate material from chapters 4—7, pp. 68-166. If the students wanted to read the earlier chapters, that would be good background as well, but I will draw mainly on 4-7. Chapter 1 gives an overview of Kierkegaard’s life and writings. Chapter 2 discusses his literary strategy of “indirect communication.” Chapter 3 gives his overall account of the nature of the human self and what it is to exist as a human being. So all of those would be helpful as background. It depends on how much you want to assign and how much time the students will have.I will select and photocopy some shorter passages from Kierkegaard’s own writings and send them to you as well, so the students will get some sense of how Kierkegaard writes.
